Finance Directory HQ exists to answer a deceptively simple question: who can I actually trust with my money? The financial web is saturated with comparison sites, affiliate funnels, and lookalike domains that make it hard to tell a real, regulated institution from a marketing shell. We built this directory to cut through that noise by listing only nationally recognized, verifiable financial services alongside the official government tools that let you confirm their legitimacy.
What we do
We organize the world of personal and small-business finance into eight clear categories — banks, credit unions, online lenders, financial advisors, insurance, fintech apps, mortgage, and wealth management. Each listing includes a substantial, plain-English description of what the institution or tool does and why it belongs in the directory. Wherever a regulator or verification resource exists, we list it too, so you can move from a name you have heard of to proof you can rely on.
What we are not
Finance Directory HQ is not a bank, credit union, lender, insurer, broker-dealer, or registered investment adviser. We do not hold deposits, originate loans, sell insurance, or manage investments. We do not provide personalized financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. Our independence is intentional: because we earn nothing from steering you toward a particular product, we can point you straight to the official source.
How we choose listings
- Real and verifiable. Every listing maps to a genuine institution or tool with a working, official website.
- Nationally relevant. We prioritize providers and resources recognized across the United States.
- Regulator-backed where possible. We feature FDIC, NCUA, SBA, FINRA, and CFPB tools so you can verify any provider yourself.
- Clearly described. No filler — each entry explains the service in at least fifty words.
Verify before you commit
The single most valuable habit we can encourage: confirm any institution before you hand over money or personal information. Check banks with the FDIC BankFind Suite, credit unions with the NCUA Credit Union Locator, advisors and brokers with FINRA BrokerCheck, and insurers through your state department of insurance via the NAIC. If something goes wrong, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau accepts complaints against most financial companies. All of these are listed right here in the directory.
